Geo. Branch – Outline Family Tree

The attached image is the Branch Family Outline Tree for the George Branch genealogical tree. This info is in my Ancestry file, “DBK George Branch Family of Virginia and North Carolina”.  Actually the tree starts with John Branch who arrived in 1635 at age 13 in Jamestown, Virginia, but the connection between John who is likely the father of George is not definitive.  This tree outlines four generations and shows the groups of descendants that populated North Carolina, Virginia, and Tennessee that descend from George.  This exercise was done to hopefully simplify the study of this family and represents my research of 30 years or more.  At some point an outline tree helps focus the search.  Is it perfect?  No but its a starting place towards understanding. Is every date exact?  No.  Some birth or death dates had to be estimated by other records.  Does it have errors?  Yeah, very likely but such is life and such is genealogy.  The study of genealogy this far back has fundamental problems due to lack of records.  In the 1600’s, colonists in British Colonial America and Jamestown were trying to survive so record keeping was not at the top of their priorities.
